Upgrade of Red Head Road from Diamond Beach Road to Seascape Drive

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council is planning and designing two upgrades for Red Head Road, Red Head – one is funded by the developer of Seascape, while the other is an unrelated project funded by Council’s $7.5 million roads upgrade program.

The developer of Seascape is funding the road upgrade from Red Head Road to Diamond Beach Road as per the requirements of the approval for the development. Council is carrying out the works at the developer’s expense. Council is not using ratepayer revenue for this work.

Preliminary work, such as environmental assessments and design verification, is currently underway. Works will include road pavement and seal works with a second stage including a roundabout at the intersection of Diamond Beach Road and Red Head Road at some time in the future. Site work on the road pavement and seal is expected to start next year.

A second upgrade project is planned for the eastern end of Red Head Road. The stretch of Red Head Road from Coromont Drive eastwards was selected for an upgrade as part of the $7.5 million roads upgrade program.
