Upgrading Hampton Street

Bayside’s local shopping centres are at the heart of community life. They’re where we shop, meet friends, enjoy a coffee, support local businesses and connect with our neighbourhoods.

We’re investing $2.2M in upgrading the Hampton Street shopping centre between Crisp St and Ratho Ave (South Rd end). The shopping centre upgrade will enhance shared public spaces, improve connectivity and create a more cohesive experience along the 1.4 km shopping precinct, making it a more attractive, welcoming and vibrant place to gather, shop, work and connect.

The upgrades will renew ageing infrastructure and improve landscaping, paving, public lighting, seating, street furniture and other public amenities along Hampton Street.

We’re now inviting the community to help shape the final design. We want to know:

  • Your preferred design elements, including trees and landscaping
  • Which areas along Hampton Street you think should be prioritised for upgrades.
  • How Council can best support local residents, visitors and traders throughout the construction period.

Your feedback will help create a Hampton Street that is attractive, welcoming and accessible, while supporting local businesses and community life. Learn more about the upgrade and have your say or come and see us at our pop up event at Hampton Street Woolworths.

Consultation closes 13 September 2026.
