Upskilling Victorian Workers And Meeting Industry Needs

VIC Premier

Labor is backing workers and industry with targeted, hands-on training.

Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing Melissa Horne announced a next round of the Skills Solutions Partnerships program is now open for applications.

The Carroll Labor Government is bringing industry, TAFE and dual sector universities together to co-design new training solutions that respond to immediate workforce needs.

Grants of up to $500,000 are available to develop practical and innovative training courses addressing critical skills gaps in priority sectors.

These sectors include advanced manufacturing and defence, the circular economy, health technologies and medical research, agribusiness and digital technologies.

The program has proven to be a major success in providing specialised applied training that is industry-facing.

It will develop a new applied AI and data skills course ensuring advanced manufacturing workers and small businesses across the Greater Geelong region can upskill to use AI safely and effectively.

Under Round 2 Chisholm Institute with project partners Sutton Tools and Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited, received funding to pilot a hands-on advanced measurement training course.

This course was to strengthen metrology and precision measurement skills in manufacturing and defence sectors.

Since 2023, more than $7 million of funding has been awarded to 15 projects.

A $40 billion cuts agenda from Jess Wilson’s Liberal-One Nation Coalition can’t support workers and businesses.

Only Labor is giving workers the skills they need to keep pace with growing industries.

Expressions of Interest for Round 4 of the Skills Solutions Partnerships program close Friday 27 November 2026.
