Four University of Queensland subjects ranked 1st in Australia and three subjects in the global top 10 in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2026.
UQ achieved the equal highest number of subjects ranked in the top 100 among Australian universities, with 52 subjects making the list, equal with the University of Melbourne.
UQ ranked 1st in Australia in the following subjects on the global ranking list:
- 8 – Hospitality and Tourism Management
- 10 – Ecology
- 10 – Environmental Science & Engineering
- 16 – Biomedical Engineering
The strong performance in Hospitality and Tourism Management highlights the University’s role in building the skills and experience in an industry that will be critical leading into 2032 and beyond.
The rankings analyse 57 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
