US Tech Giant Opens Asia-Pacific HQ In Melbourne

A leading software provider used by the majority of America’s Fortune 500 is the latest tech company to establish a headquarters in Victoria.

Minister for Economic Development Tim Pallas officially opened their Asia-Pacific headquarters on Bourke Street today.

Lucidchart makes data visualisation software and is one of the world’s leading tech companies, with more than 15 million users across 180 countries, including Australia.

Their cloud-based platform promotes innovation through collaborative diagramming and is used by Google, Adobe, Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft and locally, Woolworths supermarkets.

The company’s investment is expected to generate more than 100 new jobs over five years, with 10 tech specialists already working out of the Asia-Pacific offices.

Founded in 2010 by CEO Karl Sun and CTO Ben Dilts, Lucidchart joins a growing number of companies from Utah’s thriving tech scene that are calling Melbourne home, such as Podium and InMoment.

Lucidchart’s investment is the latest boost to Victoria’s thriving tech sector, which employs more than 137,900 people across more than 19,300 businesses and generating $36.6 billion in revenue annually.

Melbourne is Australia’s leading tech city as reported in Savills Research Tech Cities in Motion global report and has also been crowned most innovative city by 2thinknow’s Innovation Cities Index.
