The Tasmanian Government extends its sincere condolences to Allen G Hansen’s family and friends.
Allen was an instrumental pioneer in Tasmania’s seafood industry, establishing Tasmanian Seafoods Pty. Ltd. in 1969 in Smithton, after moving to Australia from America. The business later expanded to include a site at Margate in the south of the state.
From its humble beginnings, Tasmanian Seafoods is now a world-renowned processor, wholesaler and exporter specialising in abalone, sea cucumber, prawns and whiting, and is a proud legacy of Mr Hansen.
Allen was a well-respected member of the North-West community, a keen supporter of sporting clubs and associations and a contributor to Tasmania’s visitor economy, through the well-known Tall Timbers resort hotel.
He has generously contributed to the Circular Head and the Tasmanian community over many years, and will be deeply missed.
