Vehicle impound in Lovely Banks

State Highway Patrol officers impounded a speeding motorist’s vehicle this morning in Lovely Banks.

Officers from Corio detected the Ford Ranger on the Geelong Ring Road at 149km/h in a 100km/h zone about 7am.

The 4×4 utility was intercepted and officers spoke to the driver, a man from Darley.

Police determined that he had a valid reason for travel, but not at those speeds.

The 45-year-old man underwent a roadside drug test which returned a positive result.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days with towing costs of $1425.

The man is expected to be charged on summons with exceeding the speed limit and exceeding prescribed concentration of drugs.

Highway Patrol officers are continuing to actively enforce the road rules, detecting high risk offending by drivers.
