Vehicle seized for grog running at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have seized a vehicle following an alleged attempt to bring liquor into a restricted area.

Police conducted a traffic apprehension on a vehicle approximately 150 metres south of Wuppa Camp, an alcohol protected area, around 5:30pm yesterday. A search of the vehicle located two litres of cask wine.

A 26-year-old female was issued a notice to appear in court for bringing liquor into an alcohol protected area. She is due to appear in Tennant Creek Local Court in July.

Superintendent Kylie Anderson said, “Tennant Creek and Barkly officers will continue to target people who flout liquor restrictions and bring or attempt to bring liquor into Tennant Creek restricted areas in our efforts to reduce alcohol-related harm within our community. We will continue to use intelligence and community partnerships to identify those who attempt to profit from the unlawful supply of liquor to others and disrupt those activities through targeted policing efforts.”
