Vehicle seized under anti-hooning legislation

A 21-year-old male has had his vehicle seized for 48 hours under anti-hooning legislation.

Darwin Traffic Operations officers were conducting patrols when they observed a silver Holden Commodore utility performing burnouts near the intersection of Kirkland Road and Wishart Road around 11:00pm on 19 July.

Police conducted a traffic apprehension on the vehicle which was later seized and towed. The driver received a traffic infringement notice for drive vehicle causing loss of traction.

Police are authorised to impound vehicles involved in hooning offences prescribed in Traffic Regulations. In addition to vehicle impoundment, those who commit hooning offences may be dealt with by arrest, traffic infringement notices, summons or notices to appear in court.
