Cancer patients in the South West will benefit from improved comfort and accessibility when travelling to medical appointments, following the upgrade of a new vehicle for Cancer Council WA’s Transport to Treatment service in Bunbury.

A 2024 GWM Haval Jolion has been generously provided through the continued support of Raymond Jones and the Jones Boys Bunbury GWM, replacing the Kia Stonic donated in 2023.

Cancer Council WA Supportive Care Director, Melanie Marsh, said the upgraded vehicle would make a meaningful difference for patients who rely on the service.

“The Haval Jolion is larger and more spacious, offering improved accessibility and greater fuel efficiency for patient transport,” Ms Marsh said.

“This upgrade enables our dedicated staff and volunteers at Dot’s Place to continue delivering our Transport to Treatment service, that supports cancer patients to attend essential medical and treatment appointments throughout the Southwest.”

Ms Marsh said the Jones family has supported Dot’s Place Bunbury for more than 20 years, with donations dating back to 2004.

“We are so grateful for the continue support of Raymond Jones and the Jones Boys Bunbury GWM,” she said.

“We would also like to acknowledge Tint City Bunbury for donating all the window tinting.

“This long-term support has helped ensure people affected by cancer in the Southwest can access treatment closer to home.

Raymond Jones said supporting Cancer Council WA remained a cause close to the hearts of those involved.

“Cancer impacts almost every family at some point, so we’re proud to continue backing an organisation that provides such practical and compassionate support within our community,” Mr Jones said.

“Dot’s Place is well known in Bunbury for the care and commitment of its staff and volunteers, and this vehicle upgrade is simply our way of helping them continue their important work.”
