Victorian Bushfire Appeal collection at Summer Sessions events

To support the Victorian Bushfire Appeal, Hume City Council will collect donations at its upcoming Summer Sessions: Movies and Music events.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said, “Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by the devastating bushfires across Australia.

“On behalf of Hume City Council, I convey my gratitude to the courageous emergency services volunteers and personnel in Victoria and throughout Australia who are working tirelessly to assist the affected communities.”

Council has made a donation to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal on behalf of the Hume community and will further support communities impacted by the bushfires through fundraising efforts at the Summer Sessions: Movies and Music events, beginning Friday 10 January in Greenvale.

Members of the public who wish to make an additional donation to the Bushfire Disaster Appeal are encouraged to do so at any Bendigo Bank branch or online at vic.gov.au/bushfireappeal.

“I would like to take the opportunity to assure our community that Hume City Council undertakes annual fire preparedness measures including roadside slashing, planned burns and grading fire breaks before the fire season begins,” Cr Moore said.

Further high fire-danger days are expected throughout the summer. Stay informed about fire activity, warnings and alerts via emergency.vic.gov.au or download the Vic Emergency app.
