Victorian perspective on ACCC water markets inquiry

The sixth webinar in the Agriculture Victoria irrigation webinar series – Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) inquiry into Murray-Darling Basin water markets – a Victorian irrigation perspective’ will run on Friday 28 May, from 1 pm.

Agriculture Victoria Senior Irrigation Extension Officer Rob O’Connor said the webinar will discuss key findings in the recent ACCC inquiry into water markets, with an emphasis on the implications of the findings for Victorian irrigators.

“A Victorian perspective on the inquiry will also be provided by Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).”

The webinar will cover:

  • key findings of the ACCC inquiry into water markets
  • improvements identified for the operation, transparency and regulation and efficiency of the water markets
  • Victoria’s perspective on the ACCC inquiry.

Expert speakers will include Mick Keogh, ACCC Deputy Chair and MDB Chair of the water markets inquiry. Mick also has the responsibility of agriculture and small business, within the ACCC.

Also presenting, Alieta Donald, DELWP Director of Water Resource Reform and Insights, which includes oversight and reform of Victoria’s water markets.
