Held throughout October, the opening event Movies, Magic and Music will feature performances from the Seniors Festival.
The showcase will feature Malawian singer and guitar player David Marama with guests Fem Belling and Rolf Koren; a window into a grandmother and granddaughter relationship fuelled by a love of creativity and a delicious shared humour with Elizabeth Chong and Teresa Duddy; top jazz artists Iaki Vallejo, David Jones and Evri Evripidou; magicians and illusionists Sam Angelico and Ross Skiffington; 15 year old Lottie Davitt who created Zoom Piano School in 2020 and; Kokatha, Gunditjmara singer and songman David Arden.
The performances will also be screened again on Wednesday October 6.
Other events for the Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined in Strathbogie Shire include:

- Treasure or Trash valuation stall; Sunday October 10; Avenel Market, 10am to 1pm
- Local History Day; Friday October 15; various times and locations
- Water, Wines, Wetlands & Walks; Wednesday October 20; Tahbilk Winery
- Come and Try sports sessions; Thursday October 21; various times and locations
- Wildflower Walk; Monday October 25; Euroa Arboretum; 10am to 12pm
The program of events also features an on-screen author talk at the Avenel Golf Clubrooms with Australian author John Doyle.
Doyle aka Rampaging Roy Slaven is an Australian icon who created the character Roy Slaven in 1985, alongside H.G. Nelson.
His new book Blessed follows one year in the life of the boy who would become Roy, who, even at the age of fifteen knew he was destined for greatness, but just had to get through high school first.
Doyle will be streamed live on a big screen on the lawns at the Violet Town Community Centre and guests will get an opportunity to ask a question. For those that can’t make it on the day, this event will be live streamed on YouTube.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn said the festival was a great way for seniors to get out and enjoy themselves.
“Whether you’re interested in trying something new or having a nice time out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” Cr Raeburn said.
“It is particularly important for our senior community, some of which are isolated and vulnerable, take this opportunity to reconnect after recent lockdowns.”

The Water, Wine and Wetlands Walk costs $10. All other events are free.
