Vinnies welcomes progress on National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children

St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia

The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia welcomes today’s agreement between the Commonwealth and States and Territories on an approach to finalise the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children for release in October.

Violence against women and children is completely unacceptable. It is a significant health and welfare issue in Australia that has impacts on individuals, families and communities.

Vinnies is a witness to the immediate and enduring impacts of violence on women and children, and to their strength and resilience in overcoming adversity.

We welcome today’s meeting between Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher, and Minister for Social Services, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP and their State and Territory counterparts and their commitment to work together to address this critical issue.
