The professional development course runs over two 90-minute MS Teams sessions and is facilitated by an industry expert.

The sessions are designed to build confidence in how to operate MS Teams and facilitate online learning sessions.

DCO Training Gregg Paterson AFSM acknowledged VFBV’s support and congratulated the volunteer working party for the considerable time and effort put in over the past month.

“It’s great to see volunteers driving innovation and taking a major step forward in building the skills for all volunteer trainer and assessors in online facilitation,” he said.

“Volunteers want our training to be delivered in multiple modes and virtual classroom delivery will add another option along with our world-class face-to-face training and e-learning.”

Two online facilitation courses will run each week and additional courses can be added to meet demand. Volunteer trainers and assessors will be able to nominate via the Learning Hub or by contacting their local Coordinator, Learning and Development.

It is expected that General Firefighter Foundation Theory will soon be facilitated using this virtual classroom initiative enabling new members to be trained.
