Visits cancelled – SEQ prisons

After consultation with Queensland Health regarding community cases of COVID-19 in South East Queensland, visits have been restricted to prisons in South East Queensland.

Under the restrictions, personal visits have been cancelled from Woodford Correctional Centre south to the border and west to Gatton.

Virtual personal visits remain available.

The restrictions will be reviewed as soon as Queensland Health indicates it is safe to do so.

In line with community restrictions, masks will be worn in our centres in any circumstances where physical distancing is not possible.

We acknowledge the impact of cancellation of visits on prisoners and their families, and we appreciate your patience.

Prisoners in Queensland prisons have been offered COVID-19 vaccinations, with very high uptake.

Queensland Health has administered approximately 8000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to prisoners across the State to date, and many prisoners are now fully vaccinated.

Our officers have also been supported to get vaccinations under phase 1B.

We encourage family members to get vaccinated as soon as they can if they haven’t already done so, as vaccinations will play an important role in keeping our centres COVID-free and preventing future lockdowns.
