- Joint WA showcase will promote the State’s life sciences capabilities and connect local businesses with potential customers, partners and investors
The Cook Labor Government will lead a delegation of WA businesses and organisations to the Gold Coast this month to showcase the State’s world-class biotechnology and medical technology capabilities at one of Australia’s largest life sciences gatherings.
The delegation will attend AusBiotech and AusMedtech from 21 to 23 October as part of Australia’s Biggest Week in Biotech, which runs from 19 to 23 October.
The Department of Energy and Economic Diversification and the Department of Health will host a joint booth to promote Western Australia’s life sciences capabilities and help connect local businesses with industry leaders, researchers, investors and potential international partners.
For the first time, the week will bring together the AusBiotech International Conference, AusMedtech Conference and AusBiotech Invest.
The event is expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees and feature more than 250 speakers across approximately 60 sessions, with a focus on scientific innovation, commercialisation, investment and global collaboration.
The delegation builds on the success of AusMedtech coming to Perth for the first time in May 2026, which showcased Western Australia’s medical technology capabilities to a national and international audience.
The delegation demonstrates the Cook Labor Government’s commitment to supporting Western Australia’s health and medical life sciences sectors, helping local businesses commercialise innovation, access new markets and attract investment to diversify the State’s economy.
As stated by Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson:
“This delegation is a great opportunity to showcase our State’s capabilities and strengthen connections with the national and international life sciences community, building off the success of hosting AusMedtech earlier this year.
“By bringing together 19 Western Australian businesses with researchers, investors and industry leaders, Australia’s Biggest Week in Biotech will help open doors to new partnerships, commercial opportunities and investment.
“The Cook Labor Government is committed to supporting medical research and innovation, helping translate discoveries into real-world applications while growing Western Australia’s health and medical life sciences sector.”
