WA Volunteer Service Awards to expand nomination eligibility

  • Eligibility criteria for the WA Volunteer Service Awards will be expanded to recognise more volunteers
  • Nominations for the 2024 WA Volunteer Service Awards will open on 5December2023

Volunteering Minister Don Punch has today announced at the Volunteering WA State Conference that the 2024 WA Volunteer Service Awards will include new nomination categories to better reflect contemporary volunteering in Western Australia.

Expanding the nomination eligibility will ensure a broader diversity of volunteer contributions from across the community, including younger and regional volunteers, are recognised through the Awards.

The nomination process has been streamlined to encourage greater participation from volunteer organisations and volunteers, who will now also be able to nominate themselves for recognition.

The WA Volunteer Service Awards is an initiative of the State Government that demonstrate its support and recognition of WA volunteers. The WA Volunteer Service Awards, first established in 2012, recognise and celebrate the significant efforts of the State’s volunteers.

To date, 2,331 WA volunteers have been honoured through the Awards program.

Nominations for the 2024 WA Volunteer Service Awards will open on 5 December 2023, and close on the 29 February 2024.

The Department of Communities will host information sessions for stakeholders regarding the new categories and nomination process.
