From Monday 2 September, Council’s Warragul Customer Service Centre will temporarily relocate to the Arts Centre Box Office to make way for accessibility upgrades and refurbishment works to the Annexe building.

During this time, the Customer Service team will be fully operational from the Box Office desk where residents will be able to chat with staff about their enquiries and make payments as usual. Open hours will be unchanged, from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Refurbishment works at the Annexe will primarily address current accessibility shortfalls and bring the building and surrounds up to code as per the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Among the many improvements, major upgrades will include construction of a new disabled toilet and access ramp.

Works will also address the layout, functionality and efficiency of the building to create more flexible workspaces with contingencies to accommodate a growing workforce.

Wayfinding signage will be implemented throughout the area to further direct customers during this period.

The $210,000 project will be delivered through the 2019/20 Capital Works Program.

This previous Customer Service Centre space on the lower level of the Arts Centre (accessed directly from Civic Place) will be addressed as part of the broader Warragul Civic Precinct Master Plan process.

Works will begin shortly and are expected for completion by early 2020.

As noted by Acting CEO Mark Dupe

“Our community and workforce have grown and changed significantly since these buildings were originally constructed decades ago. It’s important that we provide our customers and staff with buildings that are DDA compliant, fit for purpose and flexible so they can be adapted as needed.”

“We thank our neighbours at the Arts Centre for accommodating the Customer Service team during this period. This will be a great opportunity for more residents to visit the redeveloped Arts Centre, some who may not have been there before.”

As noted by Director Community Infrastructure Cohen Van der Velde

“While much of the area will be addressed through the Warragul Civic Precinct Master Plan process, we are making necessary improvements to encourage a functional and flexible environment for customers and staff.”
