Police have issued a warrant to arrest Peter O’Ryan following an incident where three people were critically injured in Tyers yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a property on Cowies Road on Saturday 5 September following reports two men and a woman had been assaulted, with what was believed to be an axe or hatchet about 12.30pm.
O’Ryan, who is known to the victims, fled the address on foot.
Both the 76 and 47-year-old were airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries where they remain in a critical condition.
The 74-year-old woman was transported to hospital with critical injuries and remains in a stable condition.
Detectives are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident however it is believed to have unfolded following an argument.
Investigators are following up several enquiries and continue, along with local police in the surrounding area, to search for the 48-year-old.
Images of O’Ryan have been released in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information about his current whereabouts.
O’Ryan, who is currently of no fixed address, is known to take refuge in abandoned properties or outhouses.
He often frequents the area around Morwell and is not known for living in the bush.
One of the images includes the distinctive jacket he was last seen wearing.
He is Caucasian and described as being of medium build with dark grey hair.
O’Ryan was last seen wearing a black and mustard coloured jacket and carrying a black backpack.
Police urge members of the public to call Triple Zero (000) immediately if they sight O’Ryan and not to approach him.
It is possible he may be armed with an axe or hatchet.
Detectives are also urging O’Ryan to make contact with police or hand himself in at any police station.
