Waverley Council is awarding $43,938 in Small Grants to 14 individuals and organisations to help make Waverley an even better place for the community.
The latest Small Grants Program funding will be used to deliver a range of exciting local projects including community gardens, dancing for people with Parkinson’s and support services for Jewish LGBTQI+ youth.
Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said Council’s Small Grants Program is one of the ways Council celebrates initiatives by its community, including completely new projects and projects that support identified groups in the community including people with a disability, children and families, young people and seniors.
“Waverley Council is committed to supporting our individuals and organisations make a difference to the lives of our residents and visitors through meaningful projects,” Mayor Masselos said.
WAYS Youth and Family were among the successful applicants for their Safe Summer peer education program. WAYS runs the successful Bondi Blitz Youth Week event (pictured) at Bondi Beach Markets.
- Pound Paws Inc for a day our for dogs and their owners at Bondi Beach
- Anglesea Community Garden Inc. to refurbish their ageing community garden facilities
- Sydney Alliance to turn two grassed verges on Brighton Boulevarde into habitat gardens
- Pledge for the Planet to facilitate pledging of practical environmental change activities
- Genus Earth for an online Environmental Awards Program for children
HeadOn Foundation for the HeadOn Photo Festival Bondi Beach 2022
- Nicole Steinke for podcasts sharing the story of six significant burials within the Waverley Cemetery
- Bondi Beach Playgroups for new equipment
- Diamond Bay Bowling Club for equipment to support community engagement
- Woolltones Community Choir for support with revival after the COVID-19 shutdowns
- Jewish Care for a culturally appropriate support group for Jewish youth who identify as LGBTQI+
- COA Sydney for a vertical garden initiative for seniors with limited mobility
- WAYS Youth and Family for their Safe Summer peer education program
- Dance for Parkinson’s Australia supporting dance classes for people with Parkinson’s and their carers.
