We have power plan, Labor has power struggle

Members,

While the Rockliff Liberal Government is securing a future for Marinus, Labor is opposing it.

Labor claims there is an energy crisis, yet they won’t support our clear plan for Marinus Link, which is backed by business and the Federal Labor Government.

“Labor has had every opportunity to state their support this week: in Parliament, at press conferences and on ABC radio,” Minister Guy Barnett said.

“But they haven’t. Labor is so hopelessly void of any leadership under Rebecca “White.

Our position on Marinus is clear. It’s an important project that will help to secure Tasmania’s power needs, and that’s why we’re working with the Federal Government to secure its future on terms that are right for Tasmania.

“Labor talks about energy security, but the reality is unless they support Marinus it’s just more talk from an opposition with a leader who stands for nothing.

“No wonder the unions, members and a number of MPs are championing the return of David O’Byrne.

“We have a plan and we are getting on with it – a plan that grows supply to ensure jobs and ensure we remain among the lowest power prices in the nation,” Minister Barnett said.

Labor has no plan except for a price cap that would destroy the retail sector, destroy confidence, destroy jobs and drive up power prices.
