We are supporting Wear It Purple Day on Friday 30 August.

Our staff and volunteers will be wearing purple to show support for LGBTIQ+ West Australians

Research shows that LGBTIQ+ people experience a disproportionate cancer burden, namely breast, prostate and gynaecological cancers, and face unique challenges around cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

LGBTIQ+ people are more likely to avoid or delay participation with health services, including cancer screening programs and support programs, due to fear of discrimination and health professionals having inadequate knowledge and skills around inclusivity and the specific needs and preferences of LGBTIQ+ people.

We want everyone, no matter how they identify, to feel safe, heard and supported before anything else, when accessing screening, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care.

You first, then cancer,
