Our newest police recruits have been sworn in and begin working the beat across Townsville as operational constables.
The eight FYCs are part of a cohort of 53 recruits who were inducted into the Queensland Police Service at the Oxley academy on September 23.
The new constables will begin their policing careers at Kirwan, Stuart, Mundingburra, Townsville and Deeragun stations.
The cohort of five men and three women, ranging in age from 21 to 26, today took part in an orientation program and got to meet Northern District Officer, Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon who welcomed them to the district.
“We are confident these new officers have the skills and abilities to help us achieve our goal of keeping the community safe,” Chief Superintendent Hanlon said.
“Policing is a dynamic career and we welcome these new officers to the Queensland Police Service and Townsville district.
“I have no doubt they will meet every challenge head on and the experience they gain will only add to their ability to assist the community.”
The new officers, from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Maryborough join the QPS from diverse backgrounds including completing degrees in Bachelor of Justice and Criminology and Criminal Justice, studying Forensic Science/Criminology, and employment as a butcher, court officer, personal trainer, barista and hospitality and event management.
