It was a privilege to welcome Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria to Wodonga last week. It was a fantastic opportunity to share the innovation, capability and ambition driving our city’s growth.
Across visits to local businesses and community organisations, Her Excellency saw first-hand the breadth of capability across Wodonga, from the people and organisations that strengthen our community to those at the leading edge of innovation, advanced manufacturing and distribution. It was clear just how Wodonga’s strategic vision is translating into opportunity and investment across the city.

Mayor Cr Michael Gobel said the visit was an opportunity to showcase what makes Wodonga increasingly distinctive among regional cities.
“We are a growing and ambitious city with a strong sense of where we have come from and where we are heading,” said Mayor Gobel.
“Our location, close relationship with Albury and strengths across manufacturing, logistics, education and industry provide enormous opportunities for our city and the broader region. We offer businesses the capacity to grow and innovate without many of the constraints they face elsewhere.”
“Wodonga is also home to people turning opportunity into new ideas and, through this work, shaping our city and its future.”
“We’re planning thoughtfully for the city we want to become, and it was fantastic to showcase the capability that already exists here and why Wodonga is so well positioned for the growth ahead.”
