Werribee attempted armed robberies

Detectives from Transit Crime Investigation Unit have released CCTV footage following two attempted armed robberies over the weekend.

Investigators have been told three victims were sitting on a bench at the North Williamstown railway station when they were approached by a man on Saturday 5 September about 6.20pm.

The man produced a knife and made demands for their property before the victims were able to run from the scene.

The trio were not physically injured.

The same man then boarded a train to Newport railway station where he approached another victim on Hall Street.

He produced a knife and made demands for the man’s property as he walked out the local general store.

The victim, who was not physically injured, was able to run back into the store and raise the alarm.

Detectives have released vision and images of a man they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with a thin build and brown hair.

He was wearing a dark Nautica brand jumper, dark shorts, black runners and a Burberry-style print face mask.
