Western Sydney Metro a boon for productivity and connectivity

The Sydney Business Chamber says the Metro West rail line will provide a much needed economic stimulus to the city, cutting travel time for thousands of workers and improving productivity.

“The Government’s announcement that work will begin next year is great news for Sydneysiders. The economic and social benefits of a 20 minute commute from western Sydney to the CBD, connecting these two major business hubs, are enormous,” said Katherine O’Regan, Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.

“This improved connectivity between western and central Sydney can’t come quickly enough as it will create opportunities for businesses to develop satellite offices along the entire corridor, saving workers valuable travel time and improving productivity.”

“Along with the seven stations on the table, a stop at Pyrmont is a necessity as the successful revitalisation of the Pyrmont peninsular is dependent on having better transport to bring service workers, visitors and tourists to the new western gateway to the CBD.”

This major infrastructure project is vital in laying the foundations for Sydney’s knowledge economy by generating employment opportunities across key sectors including healthcare, financial services and advanced manufacturing.

“Attracting knowledge and technology businesses and workers demands fast, reliable transport, which the Sydney Metro West will soon provide.”
