What are you doing this summer?

Georges River Council

A summer-themed event series for a buzzing Georges River will see businesses, cultural organisations, community groups and the entertainment industry breathing life back into the streets.

A suite of family friendly outings are lined up for locals to celebrate the reopening of our city and Georges River’s unique outdoor lifestyle with food, crafts, markets and circus tricks on offer, thanks to a partnership between Georges River Council and the NSW government.

Council’s new Summer Streets program will inject more than half a million dollars back into the local economy and create jobs as we open our streets for alfresco drinking, dining and live performances.

Georges River Council’s General Manager, Gail Connolly welcomed the State government’s support and said that there is no better way to mark the remarkable success of what the local community has achieved to end the lockdown.

“Locals and visitors can look forward to an array of activities throughout December 2021 and January 2022; this will be a much-needed boost to revive those industries and communities that are the hardest-hit sectors by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

“As Sydney reopens, it is time for us to reimagine our area for businesses to rebound and locals to reconnect with our city.

“The long summer days will give families a chance to enjoy the Summer Streets’ outdoor fun.”
