What’s your experience with cats and dogs

Whether you’ve got a cat or dog at home, are in the process of adopting or have no desire to add a pet to your family, Mitchell Shire Council wants to hear from you.

Council is in the process of developing its new Domestic Animal Management Plan for 2021-2024 and wants to know how you think cats and dogs can be better managed in the shire.

The Domestic Animal Management Plan is a legislated document that all Victorian Councils are required to produce every four years.

Before a draft plan is put together, Council has developed a Community Survey to gather a range of information from the wider community – dog and cat owners, people involved in animal care, and even those without pets.

The survey includes questions about several topics including animal registrations, the cat curfew, re-homing and off-leash dog areas.

The survey is open until 9am on Monday 7 June. A draft Domestic Animal Management Plan will then be formed and is expected to be presented to the community later this year for input.
