Wheatbelt land transfer to support light industrial development

  • Seven-hectare land transfer approved in the Shire of Dalwallinu
  • Transfer will enable Dalwallinu’s light industrial area to expand
  • Future release of land will be facilitated through DevelopmentWA’s Regional Development Assistance Program

The Cook Government has approved the sale and transfer of a seven-hectare portion of Crown land to expand Dalwallinu’s light industrial area in a major boost for the local economy.

A portion of Crown Reserve 15867 will be transferred in freehold to DevelopmentWA at a nominal value and the Shire will relinquish management over the northwest portion of the reserve to enable the proposed development.

DevelopmentWA will develop the site into eight serviced industrial lots through funding from its Regional Development Assistance Program (RDAP).

The RDAP helps local authorities provide and develop projects to stimulate local economic and social activity. Under the Local RDAP stream, local authorities can apply to DevelopmentWA for support to undertake land projects in their local government areas.

Approved projects are then delivered by DevelopmentWA with in-kind support or assistance from the local government.

As stated by Planning; Lands Minister John Carey:

“In the 2023-24 State Budget, our Government boosted funding to the Regional Development Assistance Program by an extra $3 million per year to improve supply of development-ready land across regional Western Australia to help build strong and vibrant regions and communities.

“This land transfer demonstrates this Government’s commitment to make land available to stimulate growth and attract people to live and work in the regions.

“Through our land development program, RDAP, we can ensure the supply of quality industrial land to support businesses and create jobs to drive our State’s economy.”
