A Wheelers Hill couple were ready to pull the plug on their home phone after mistaking lottery officials’ winning call foryet another scam, only to discover they had in fact scored $649,000 in TattsLotto.
The Melburnian held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4705, drawn Saturday 22 August 2026. They look forward to $649,601.50.
“Oh my! Thank you so much!” the winning wife exclaimed.
“I received a phone call from someone on Monday morning and I immediately thought it was a scam but turns out it was you!
“We’re always getting scam calls on our home phone and I even thought about getting rid of our phone number!
“Then, yesterday, we received a letter in the mail urging us to check our ticket. We thought that was a scam too, but we decided to check our three tickets anyways.
“We checked one ticket and it wasn’t a winner. Then we checked another and it had won $32, so things weren’t looking promising. I thought, ‘Why would they send a letter? This must be a scam!’
“Then we scanned the last ticket, and it came up with division one. We couldn’t believe it.
“We’ve been married for four decades and when we first got together, we decided to play TattsLotto. It’s been a long time coming!
“I’m in a lot of shock, that’s for sure.”
The newly-crowned winners wasted no time deciding what they’d spend the prize on, sharing it would go towards home improvements and their nearest and dearest.
“We need to fix our house. It’s been neglected a bit,” the husband shared.
“We will give a bit to our kids and their families as well.
“Thank you! Thank you!”
Their winning marked 6-game entry was purchased at Wheelers Hills Newsagency, Shop 30 200 Jells Road, Wheelers Hill.
