Where dogs can run free in Bayside

Confused about dog off-leash areas and seasonal restrictions? Our interactive places to walk your dog map makes it easy to explore and understand where and when doggos can be off leash in Bayside.

The searchable map contains information and images for 29 off-leash locations, including the foreshore and designated off-leash sportsgrounds. When you select an off-leash location, the map displays any seasonal restrictions and conditions of use. Dogs must be on leash everywhere else in Bayside.

When your dog is off leash, it must be always under your effective control. This means you can recall your dog with voice or hand commands, and you have constant sight of your dog to monitor its behaviour and restrain, if necessary.

Please respect our beautiful shared open spaces and each other and don’t forget the dog poo bags!

How to be a responsible dog owner in off-leash areas

  • Always have effective control of your dog so you can recall with voice or hand commands.

  • Maintain constant sight and monitor your dog’s behaviour and restrain, if necessary.

  • Leash your dog within 20 metres of an area being used for organised sport including training, playgrounds, barbeques, picnic areas and on-leash signed areas.

  • Clean up after your dog immediately: scoop the poop and put in a bin (leaving a waste bag on the ground is a no-no)

  • Ensure your dog doesn’t damage sportsground turf by digging.
