Why governments should invest in another mass media antismoking campaign

We know that mass media anti-smoking campaigns are effective at encouraging people to not smoke – research shows that 55,000 lives were saved following Australia’s first big anti-smoking push in 1997!

But it’s been over a decade since the last campaign in Australia. Of all the preventable causes of cancer, smoking causes the most deaths and continues to be a significant public health issue. We believe it’s possible to turn this tide, but immediate action is crucial.
