Whyalla youth arrested over service station robbery, South Australia

A youth has been arrested following an aggravated robbery at a Whyalla Norrie service station overnight.

Just before midnight on Friday 29 March, a man entered the Norrie Avenue service station where he threatened the attendant and demanded money. The suspect stole cash and ran off.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Police patrols attended and reviewed CCTV footage and were able to identify the suspect. As patrols attended a nearby home, the youth ran off jumping fences of neighbouring properties and onto a roof before police lost sight of him. After an extensive search, patrols re-attended the home and located the boy hiding in the roof space.

A 15-year-old boy from Whyalla was charged with aggravated robbery, six counts of being unlawfully on premises, hinder and resist police and aggravated assault. He is expected to be refused police bail and will appear in the Whyalla Youth Court on Monday.
