Wilful damage in Southport, QLD

Police investigations into the wilful damage of Southport Courthouse indicate that three windows were damaged by projectiles from a sling-shot type device and not a firearm.

Around 7.50am yesterday (Monday August 19), police were notified of three broken windows at the Hinze Street establishment.

Investigations indicate that sometime between Friday August 16 and Monday August 19, unknown projectiles struck three windows on levels one, two and five.

The projectiles did not penetrate the glass but caused the fifth-floor window to shatter.

The courthouse had to be closed yesterday while emergency repairs were undertaken.

Investigations continue.
