Sunshine Coast Police are investigating multiple wilful damage incidents in Mooloolaba, following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
Just before 10.20pm on 20 June, police were called to a disturbance involving a large group of youths near a bus stop on Mooloolaba Esplanade near the intersection with Meta Street.
Upon arrival, officers observed a glass panel at the bus stop had been damaged.
A 15-year-old boy suffered lacerations to his leg and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
At 10pm on 5 July, police were called to another disturbance involving a large group of youths near a park on Mooloolaba Esplanade close to the intersection with Brisbane Road.
Following further enquiries, officers observed damage to the toilet block caused by a small fire.
No other structures were damaged, and the fire was extinguished prior to police arriving on scene.
Around 9pm on August 3, an unknown number of offenders caused significant damage to a toilet block on Mooloolaba Esplanade near Venning Street, ripping off cubicle doors.
No charges have been laid over either incident, and investigations into all incidents are ongoing.
Officer in Charge of Maroochydore Station Senior Sergeant Jacob Flaherty said youths creating disturbances can expect to see police anywhere, anytime.
“We are also asking parents to work with police in preventing and disrupting any possible anti-social behaviour or offending,” he said.
“Be aware of your child’s whereabouts, who they are with, and what activities they are undertaking.”
