Wilful exposure investigation in Sunnybank, QLD

Upper Mount Gravatt detectives have charged a man after a series of alleged incidents of wilful exposure and indecent acts in the Sunnybank area since July 20.

It will be alleged the incidents occurred between 8pm and 10pm predominately on Friday or the weekend. The man approached women walking on Karalee, Turton, Dunedin, Mulgowie and Boorman streets. The man was completely naked with a black or blue cloth covering his head and often was hiding in bushes prior to approaching the women.

As a result of complaints about this behaviour, police increased patrols of the Sunnybank area.

It will be further alleged at 9.20pm on Friday November 8, officers in an unmarked car observed a man hiding in the bushes near Turton Street. Police observed the man allegedly inappropriately touching himself and subsequently arrested the man.

A 58-year-old Browns Plains man has been charged with 11 counts of indecent act and one count each of common assault and wilful exposure. He will reappear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 4.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been approached by a man in similar circumstances in the area to contact them.
