Winners announced at 2018 Sunshine Coast Business Awards

THE winners of the 2018 Sunshine Coast Business Awards, supported by Sunshine Coast Council, have been announced at a gala celebration attended by more than 600 guests at Novotel Twin Waters Resort.

The winners were selected from more than 200 finalists and received awards for 15 business categories, Business of the Year and the Hall of Fame.

In congratulating each of the finalists and winners, Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said it was an honour to be involved in an event that celebrated local businesses and their contribution to our healthy, smart, creative region.

“Our Sunshine Coast continues to be home to some of the best businesses nationally and internationally,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“I know that success does not always come overnight, so I applaud the tenacity, dedication and commitment of the business people across our region; without them, the Sunshine Coast would not be experiencing the success it is today.

“We have one of the strongest performing regional economies in Queensland with local businesses contributing to employment growth and our region’s sustainability now and for future generations,” he said.

Sunshine Coast Business Awards chair Jennifer Swaine said the awards were bigger and better this year than ever before and feedback from judges about the focus on outstanding service, growth and quality was extremely positive.

“It’s very inspiring to see so many businesses apply for the region’s most prestigious business awards and undergo the process of examining their strengths and achievements,” she said.

“It’s also exciting to learn that the 2019 Queensland Tourism Awards will be held locally next year, a coup for our region and our many dynamic tourism businesses helping put the sector on the map.”

Visit Sunshine Coast has announced that Queensland’s major tourism awards will be hosted locally next year as a significant recognition of the Sunshine Coast’s industry leadership, growth and increasingly global profile.

The highest scoring business across all categories was named Business of the Year and this year it was Bli Bli Riverside Retreat.

Three leading regional businesses were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year – Australia Zoo, The Compass Institute and Typefi. All have won their category in consecutive years.
