Winners of Life and Light Photo Competition to be announced at Wentworth Show

With just over a week until the Wentworth Show (24 and 25 August), excitement is building amongst entrants of this year’s Life and Light in the Western Region Photo Competition, with the winners to be announced at the event.

The Life and Light Photo Competition, which is run jointly by Western Local Land Services and Western Landcare NSW, has run for over 20 years and is a fantastic way for amateur and professional photographers to showcase the beauty, diversity and uniqueness of the Western region.

In addition to announcing the winners of the photo competition, Western Local Land Services will again have a trade exhibit at the show and is looking forward to catching up with landholders, community members and stakeholders.

Western Local Land Services will be offering a one-stop shop with a wide range of service providers from across the region also in the marquee.

The trade exhibit will include studies of recent projects that are having a positive impact on either primary production and/or environmental outcomes, as well as offering advice on:

  • agricultural production and animal welfare during the drought
  • recent changes to the Biosecurity Act, including an opportunity for landholders to collect free biosecurity signs and stickers for their properties
  • natural resource management
  • pest control, biosecurity and emergency management
  • sustainable land management.

“These two days are a fantastic opportunity for landholders and community members to have a casual chat with us and learn more about the services and support we can provide,” Senior Land Services Officer, Kaye Gottschutzke said.

“It is also a great opportunity for us to catch up with landholders and community members we have worked with in recent years and see how their projects are going, as well as give them the opportunity to update us on other opportunities or issues in their local area.”
