Eastern Region Division 1 Crime Team detectives are appealing for witnesses following a carjacking in Bulleen this morning.
Investigators have been told the male victim was driving his 2018 grey Mercedes Benz on the eastern freeway city-bound from Ringwood about 2am.
It is believed a white Nissan SUV pulled in front of the Mercedes near the Bulleen road overpass forcing the Mercedes driver to pull over.
Investigators were told two male offenders approached the Mercedes and one of the offenders produced a firearm before demanding the victim get out of his car.
It is believed one of the offenders assaulted the victim before driving away in the victim’s Mercedes along with the Nissan SUV towards the CBD.
The two offenders are believed to be Middle Eastern in appearance, aged in their twenties and of stocky build.
The victim sustained a minor injury during the incident.
Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate the grey Mercedes Benz bearing registration plates AVN328 and have released an image of a similar looking vehicle to the stolen car.
