Witnesses sought to ram raid at Tweed Heads, NSW

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a ram raid at a shopping centre in Tweed Heads yesterday.

About 5am (Sunday 13 November 2022), a grey Hyundai Santa Fe drove to the top floor of a shopping centre on Minjungbal Drive, when a male and female exited the car and commenced smashing windows of the shopping centre entrance.

The pair returned to the vehicle and drove through glass sliding doors into the centre, before they gained entry to a store.

They drove from the scene a short time later, taking jewellery.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District were notified of the incident and attended, established a crime scene which was forensically examined.

Following initial inquiries, the grey Hyundai was located burnt-out at Tamborine Mountain, Queensland, about 9am.

As investigations into the incident continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to come forward and contact Tweed Heads police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
