Wollongong gets ready for a Drive-in Movie Night

We’re getting ready to deliver a fantastic community night out with our drive-in movie showing of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle this Friday 10 July.

Council and CareSouth, with media partners i98FM and WIN, are holding a special school holiday drive-in movie night at the Kembla Grange Racecourse.

Tickets for this event sold out just days after being opened. Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that it was great to see the community support for the movie night.

“A drive-in movie is a real trip down memory lane and something that many younger people have not previously experienced. With events closing across Australia, Council has had to think outside the box to deliver an event that offers families socially distant fun.

“Council is now reviewing their summer series of events which include the popular Moonlight Movies held in some of our local parks. While these events are aimed at families what we find is that our movie nights are really for the whole community with people of all ages coming along.

“I ask that you help us ensure everyone stays safe make sure you practice good social distancing – wash your hands or use hand sanitiser as needed and stay home if you’re feeling unwell. I’m sure it’s going to be a great night.”

Gates open at 5.30pm with the movie starting at 7pm and attendees will be able to listen to the movie by tuning in via FM. Food will be available for purchase from the Kembla Grange Racecourse Function Centre.

Parking will be allocated on a first in best dressed basis and attendees are reminded that this is a family friendly, alcohol free event.
