Woman blows 0.335, one of six high-range drink drivers charged across NSW

A woman has returned a breath-analysis reading of 0.335, one of six high-range drink drivers caught by police across NSW over the weekend.

The 23-year-old woman was stopped by officers attached to Chifley Police District about 11.40am yesterday (Sunday 10 May 2020), after complaints about a vehicle being driven erratically through streets of Kelso, in the state’s Central West.

When the woman returned a positive roadside breath test she was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.335. She has been granted conditional bail to face Bathurst Local Court on Monday 13 July 2020. Her licence was also suspended.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said incidents like these horrified police, and should cause alarm in other road users.

“It is inconceivable that any driver – young or old, country or city – could think it was acceptable behaviour,” Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.

“The choices being made by these drivers puts every person on the road at risk.

“This is irresponsible driver behaviour of the worst kind,” Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.
