Woman charged; estimated $9000 of heroin seized at Wellington, NSW

A woman will face court next month after police seized heroin at a vehicle stop in the state’s Central West yesterday.

About 7pm on Wednesday (8 July 2020), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District stopped a black Jeep Grand Cherokee on Gisborne Street, Wellington.

After speaking with the driver, police searched the vehicle locating and seizing heroin, drug paraphernalia and a phone. These items will be forensically examined.

The heroin has an estimated potential street value of $9000.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wellington Police Station and was charged with possess prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug.

She was given conditional bail to appear at Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 18 August 2020.

Orana Mid Western Police District’s Commander, Acting Superintendent Paul Stephens said people who may have information on the supply of prohibited drugs in the Wellington area are urged to come forward.

“We want to get prohibited drugs off our streets and will continue to target those who supply drugs in our community,” A/Supt Stephens said.
