Woman charged – Serious traffic crash at Winchester, QLD

Police have charged a woman with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm following investigations into a serious traffic crash at Winchester on June 16.

About 6pm, a Ford Falcon sedan and a Toyota Landcruiser ute collided while travelling in opposite directions along Peak Downs Mine Road.

Police will allege the driver and sole occupant of the Ford, a 49-year-old Parkhurst woman, has drifted into the opposing lane, causing a head-on crash with the Toyota.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 28-year-old Rural View man, sustained serious head and spinal injuries as a result.

The Parkhurst woman also sustained serious injuries.

Both drivers were transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment.

Following extensive investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit, the Parkhurst woman has been issued with a Notice to Appear for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while adversely affected, drive with relevant drug in system, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of property used in drug offence.

She is due to appear in Moranbah Magistrates Court on November 11.
