A 45-year-old woman has been charged with high range drink driving after being breath tested in Cambridge this afternoon.
The Cambridge woman was intercepted by Southern Road Policing Services officers, and returned a reading of 0.162 – more than three times the legal limit.
The woman, who was driving a vehicle with an interlock device fitted, was immediately disqualified from driving for two years. She was charged and will appear in court at a later date.
Acting Inspector Adrian Leary said it is disappointing police continue to detect drink drivers.
“Driving under the influence is one of the fatal five contributors to serious casualty crashes,” he said.
“Behaviour like this risks the lives of all road users, not only those making the choice to drink and drive.”
“While Operation Safe Arrival has come to an end, our police will continue to be out and about across Tasmania, to keep people as safe as possible on our roads.”
