Woman charged with manslaughter after man dies following alleged neglect in Rozelle

A woman will face court today charged with the alleged neglect and manslaughter of a man in Sydney’s Inner West last year.

On Sunday 1 May 2022, police were called to an address on Nelson Street, Rozelle, where they found an 84-year-old man allegedly semi-conscious in a state of neglect.

The man was taken to hospital where he remained under care for a number of months, before he passed away as a result of his injuries in December.

Strike Force Bondy was established by detectives attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, about 9am today (Monday 23 January 2022), officers attended a home on Nelson Street, Rozelle, where they arrested a 61-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to Newtown Police Station where she was charged with manslaughter and refuse to provide necessities of life (endanger life) (DV).

She was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today.
