A woman has been charged following an alleged fatal stabbing which left one child dead and two children in a critical condition in the Blue Mountains.
About 12.45pm on Sunday 20 September 2026, emergency services responded to reports of three children and a woman suffering from alleged stab wounds in a vehicle on Waratah Road, Valley Heights.
Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and were told several members of the public performed first aid on the woman and three children whilst contacting Triple Zero.
One of the children – aged 5 – was located deceased in the vehicle.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the two children – aged 1 and 3 – and the woman – aged 42 – at the scene before they were conveyed to Westmead Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital.
The children remain in a critical but stable condition.
Following inquiries, today (Tuesday 22 September 2026), detectives charged the 42-year-old woman in a bedside court hearing with murder (DV) and two counts of cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV).
She was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Friday 20 November 2026.
