Police are investigating after a car crashed into a café at a shopping centre in Wantirna South this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to reports of the crash at the premises on Burwood Highway about 12.45pm.
A female patron seated outside the premises, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
A second patron was assessed by Ambulance paramedics at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives will attend to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police do not believe the incident was an intentional act.
A crime scene has been established and the investigation is ongoing.
