Woman dies after Caulfield assault

A 52-year-old woman has died in hospital overnight following an alleged assault in Caulfield on Tuesday 8 February.

Emergency services were called to a convenience store on Hawthorn Road about 10.15am after reports a 52-year-old woman had been assaulted.

The woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries where she later died.

Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit charged two 51-year-old women from Caulfield with recklessly cause serious injury.

We are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine cause of death.
